Mixer Installation Instructions
Taps that
are supplied with bi-flow nozzles keep the hot and cold water
separate until discharged, and are therefore suitable for
installations where there is an
imbalance in supply pressures. Mixers that have
the rinse unit or a single flow nozzle, allow hot and cold
water to mix before discharge, therefore listed check valves
are supplied as standard on UK fittings, in order to meet the requirements
of Water Supply Byelaws. These are ideally installed with equal pressures
over 1 bar. Before beginning installation ensure the pipework has been flushed
out to remove any foreign matter. On all Atriflo fittings the hot supply
should be on the left when viewed from the front.
Monobloc Single Hole Mixers
Single hole mixers require a 35mm
diameter hole through the surface they are to be installed
on. From above,
insert the flexible connections
through the hole, ensuring that the base seal is in place between the
mixer and mount surface. From the underside of surface, place the clamp
plate and fixing nut on securing stud. Using the box spanner supplied,
tighten fixing nut until mixer is held firmly in position.
The flexible connecting tails terminate with
a G1/2" swivel nut and captive rubber seal for fitting to standard
1/2" connectors.
If the fitting has a rinse attachment or a single flow nozzle these
tails will be fitted
with a check valve housing which terminate with a 15mm compression
connection.
Ionian Two Hole Sink Mixers
The
unions on two hole mixers require a minimum hole size of
25mm. Deck mounted pillar unions
allow the centres
to be adjusted from 140mm
to 260mm. Wall mounted two hole mixers are fixed at 200 centres. Ensure
the seal is in place between the rosette and mount surface. Both deck
and wall mounted unions will suit standard 1/2" connectors or
15mm compression fitting.
Mayan Bibcock Taps
The
shanks on Bibcock taps require a minimum hole size of 25mm.
As the taps are separated
no centre restrictions
apply. Ensure the seal
is in place between the rosette and mount surface. Both deck and wall
mounted unions will suit standard 1/2" connectors or a 15mm compression
connection.
Rinse
The rinse units require a 30mm diameter hole through the surface they
are to be installed on. Assemble rinse unit socket ensuring the base
seal is in place under body. Attach the tapered end to the rinse unit.
Check that the Non-Return valve is fitted in the externally threaded
end of the flex. If not, push the Non-return valve into the bore, ensuring
that it is correctly orientated. Pass the flex through the socket,
and screw the externally threaded end to the remaining hose at the
base of the mixer tap.

1 BAR = 33ft
HEAD OF WATER
1 BAR = 14.5 PSI
The
majority of domestic dwellings in the UK have gravity feed
Hot water systems, which result in most cases as low Hot
water pressure. When referring to gravity feed systems
the term "HEAD OF WATER" is used.
The definition of this term is as follows:- Maximum and Minimum water
pressure requirements for taps are usually quoted in bar.
1 bar = 33ft Head. The term Head of water means the vertical height
from the kitchen tap to the underside of the cold water storage tank,
in most cases found in the loft. The conversion from Bar to head is
based on the assumption that the tap is situated directly in line below
the storage tank. In reality this is very rarely the case and long
pipe runs across the property from storage tank to the tap can result
in poor hot water performance.
It is important to check out the manufacturers minimum requirements
and if in doubt consult a reputable qualified tradesman for advice
