must
only be installed under the kitchen sink on the
cold water main feed pipe
supplying only the kitchen tap. Whilst installation
is a simple operation, it is recommended that
this be carried out by
a suitably qualified person.
• Max. permitted water pressure 125 p.s.i., min. 30 p.s.i.
• Use only PTFE tape for fitting connections.
• Do not use soldered joints as this will damage the plastic housing.
You will require two 1/2" BSP male x 15mm straight
compression couplings.
(#2) shown in diagram A
The filter may be installed using either of the outlets (#4) shown in diagram
A or B, dictated by the location of the filter housing in the sink unit.
1. Fit
the fixing bracket (#3) to the filter head (#5) with
the screws provided.
2. Dependent on installation
type, A or B, insert the threaded plug into the outlet
aperture (#4) not being used in the housing.
3. Locate the position
of the filter housing in the sink cabinet against the
cabinet wall, and fix securely.
NOTE: Allow 220mm below the filter housing
for access to install the filter cartridge.
4. Tightly wrap an 80mm length of PTFE
tape around the male threads of the fittings (#2) (not supplied), and screw
these into the inlet and outlet apertures in the filter housing as in A or
B.
If the tap includes flexible tails the cold water tail may be fitted
directly onto the outlet side fitting of the filter head.
NOTE: Do not over-tighten.
5. Connect the filter head (#5) to both
the cold water main supply at the stopcock (#1) and to the kitchen tap,
with 15mm copper pipe and the necessary fittings.
NOTE: Ensure that the main supply from
the stopcock is fitted to the inlet aperture identified by the indicator
'IN' on the filter head.
6. Remove the sump
(#6) by turning it anti-clockwise. A wrench may be used on the lug (#7) at
the bottom of the sump, if necessary. |
|
7. Install the cartridge
(#9) (Diagram C) by threading it into the filter head
(#5).
Hand tighten about 5-6 turns and do not over-tighten. Apply
a thin film of vaseline to the gasket (#8), and set it
into the sump groove. Thread the sump (#6) back on to
the filter head (#5). NOTE: Do not use a wrench to tighten
the sump bowl.
8. Open the cold water tap to expel any trapped air, and open the
stopcock to allow water to enter the filter housing.
9. If any leaking occurs, close the stopcock, open the tap to relieve
the pressure and then gently tighten the fitting that is leaking.
10. Allow
the water to run for 2-3 minutes, this will allow the
filter to activate and be ready
for use, the water may run cloudy at first, but
will quickly clear.
MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: It
is recommended that water is allowed to flow for a few
seconds before use. The cartridge
should be replaced when there is an appreciable decrease
in the water flowing from the tap, or when objectionable
taste and/or odours return. It is recommended that the
cartridge be changed at least every three - four months.
Always have a spare cartridge available and only use Tapmate Springclear AC217
replacement cartridges. (Available from the Sink Shop Ltd)
To change the cartridge follow the guidelines
set out below and refer to Diagram C:
1. Turn off the
stopcock (#1).
2. Open the tap to relieve the pressure.
3. Unscrew the
sump (#6) from the filter head (#5) by turning it anti-clockwise.
If tight, a wrench may be used on the lug (#7) at the bottom of the sump. Have a small bowl
handy to catch any spillage. Unscrew the used cartridge anti-clockwise and
discard.
4. Install the new cartridge (#9) by
threading it into the filter head (#5). Hand tighten about 5-6 turns and do not over-tighten.
5. Remove the gasket (#8) from the top
of the sump (#6), lubricate it with a thin film of vaseline and set it
back into the sump groove. If the gasket is broken or damaged, replace it
with a new gasket.
6. Thread the sump (#6) on to the filter
head (#5) and hand tighten.
NOTE: Do not use a wrench to tighten the sump.
7. Open the stopcock and allow the water
to run for 2-3 minutes. This will allow the filter to activate and be ready for use. The water may run cloudy at first, but will
quickly clear.
8. If a leak occurs at the sump, Close the stopcock and open the tap to relieve
pressure.
Remove the sump and check the gasket for correct placement, or damage. If
necessary,
install a new gasket.
